A Voice for the Voiceless
DaLaun has reported from local protests sparked in response to the death of George Floyd. He was the first reporter to speak with the family of James Scurlock – a 22-year-old Black male – who was murdered by a white man while protesting racial injustice.
DaLaun Dillard is an Anchor and Reporter for KETV Newswatch 7 in Omaha, Nebraska, where he covers major local and national news. A leader in the field – DaLaun has reported from local protests sparked in response to the death of George Floyd. He was the first reporter to speak with the family of James Scurlock – a 22-year-old Black male – who was murdered by a white man while protesting racial injustice. DaLaun also reports extensively on the COVID-19 pandemic, speaking with families, businesses, doctors and politicians.
DaLaun’s love for journalism ignited during his undergraduate career at Central Michigan University @cmichalumni, where he received his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Broadcast and Communication. During his time on campus, he was heavily involved in the university’s broadcast program as an Anchor, Reporter, and Producer for the award-winning student run station, News Central 34. He was also a general assignment reporter for CM Life Newspaper, and he interned at WOOD-TV 8 in Grand Rapids, MI. He is an active member of both Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. @kapsi1911 and the National Association of Black Journalists @nabjofficial.
DaLaun has a passion for shedding light on injustices and giving marginalized individuals a platform to share their stories. He provides a voice to those who would otherwise be overlooked. The courage to tell stories that inspire change, foster knowledge, and empower communities is what makes DaLaun Bold and Gritty.
